Ani was born in Lhasa, Tibet and became a nun at the age of twelve. After fleeing Tibet in 1991 and arriving in Nepal, she joined the Yuloko Jetsun Ling Nunnery in Yanglashöe. Ani produced her first album "Turquoise Leaf" in 2000, which was recorded in the US. It was in the traditional Tibetan chant genre, and based on the Buddhist chants from nunnery. Chokling Tersar literally means the 'new treasures of Chokgyur Lingpa' and owes it name to the great Tibetan Buddhist master of the 19th century. The collection of treasures revealed by Chokgyur Lingpa together with its connected teachings are contained in the Chokling Tersar, a body of literature filling more than forty large volumes.

Among all these arts and crafts paintings occupied a very special position. It was a highly developed and important means of religious expression. Paintings were a medium through which the highest ideals of Buddhism were evoked and brought alive. The Nunnery name Dongyu Gatsal Ling translates as 'Delightful Garden of the Authentic Lineage'. This name was bestowed on the Nunnery by His Eminence the 9th Khamtrul Rinpoche Shedrup Nyima when Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo founded the Nunnery. On top of the logo is the Victory Banner, the personal emblem of the Khamtrul Rinpoches.
