The Association Italy-Tibet is an independent non-profit, legally constituted. Founded in 1988, the Association aims to support the work of the Dalai Lama, the highest political authority and religion of Tibet, and his government in exile, the Tibetan people to be granted the right to self-determination and fundamental freedoms are guaranteed civilians. The Association Italy-Tibet also helps you communicate effectively exiled Tibetan supporting projects of development cooperation and promoting sponsorships.

The Association was established in Turin, at the Piedmont Regional Council, on March 9th 2002, upon the initiative of the Piedmont Region and aims to support Dalai Lama's policy of authonomy for Tibet. Currently are members 42 out of 60 Piedmont regional councillors.

On 16th December, 2007, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has visited Turin on invitation of Regional Council and of the Association.

The Centre was established in Florence in 1986, is part of an international network of 180 centers and Dharma projects meeting the Foundation for Preservation of Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) is associated to ' Italian Buddhist Union and is placed under the spiritual authority of SS Dalai Lama.
