The lineage acquired the name Drukpa in the twelfth century when, assuming the human form, Avalokiteshvara - the Great Lord of Universal Compassion - manifested in Tibet as the outstanding disciple of Mahasiddha Lingchen Repa. This sublime being was called Drogon Tsangpa Gyare, the meaning being: Drogon - the Protector of Beings; Tsang - born in the land of Tsang; Gya - from the noble clan of Chinese (Gya) origin; Re - a cotton-clad yogi.

The program was established in 1993, when His Holiness the Dalai Lama visited Poland at the invitation of the Foundation and by the members of the Helsinki Committee. The main task of the program is collecting, analyzing and disseminating information on the situation in Tibet. Benefit from these individuals - primarily journalists and students and institutions: NGOs, parliamentary committees, government agencies, etc. The Foundation also takes actions that could help find a peaceful solution to the problem of Tibet and safeguard the fundamental rights of Tibetans.

This site was created in July 2008 to commemorate the 73rd birthday of His Holiness, and as an expression of respect, which darzymy him. The site was revamped in December 2008 on the occasion of the visit of His Holiness in Poland. The Karma Kamtsang Buddhist Association is one of the founding members of The Polish Buddhist Union under the patronage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The main centre of the Association is situated in Grabnik, in the neighbourhood of Warsaw.
