A tradição espiritual mais antiga do Tibet é a Bön. De acordo com as explicações Bönpo, Tönpa Shenrab, o fundador da religião Bön, é o mestre iluminado desta era. Ele disse que nasceu na terra mística de Olmo Lung Ring, cuja localidade permanece ainda um mistério. A terra é tradicionalmente descrita como dominada pelo Monte Yung-drung Gu-tzeg (Edifício das Nove Swastikas), que muitos identificam como o Monte Kailash a oeste do Tibet.

Teachings in Tashi Rabten Monstery are usually given in German. Some teachings are translated from Tibetan into German. Many of the residents are English-speaking though, therefore guided tours as well as individually requested teachings can be given in English.
