The monastery known as Chagpori was the first official medical college in Tibet. It was established in accordance with the explicit wish of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama in 1696 and was destroyed by the Chinese occupying forces in 1959. These pages will explain what Chagpori was, and has become, and how the late Dr. Trogawa Rinpoche, one of very few surviving doctors who had been trained in its system, worked for much of his life to see the lineage continued through re-establishing Chagpori in exile. International Trust for Traditional Medicine (ITTM) is a public charitable Trust dedicated to the study and research of Indo-Tibetan and allied medical systems.

KUNPHEN, literally means universal Benevolence. It is the first and only Tibetan non-government organization (NGO) that provides programs focusing on treatment and care for alcohol and drug abuse. Apart from that the center also provides assistance in human resource development and HIV/AIDS by promoting education and carrying out awareness campaigns in Tibetan communities. The primary aim of our project is to help both the special needs children and their family/caretaker. The home will provide vocational training, special education and employment opportunities to the special needs children by developing their abilities and potentialities. This will not only encourage them but also boost and shape then into productive members of society. We intend to further extend this project into Tibet as well.
