Tibetan Youth Congress

The Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) is a worldwide Organisation of Tibetans united in our common struggle for the restoration of complete independence for the whole of Tibet, which includes the tradition three provinces of U-Tsang, Do-toe, and Do-med. An independent Organisation, with a written constitution and its own plans and programmes, TYC has emerged as the largest and most active non-governmental Organisation of Tibetans in exile. The Minnesota chapter of Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC-MN) was founded on November 14, 1998. RTYC engages in promoting the just cause of Tibet reaching out beyond the Tibetan community with seminars, campaigns and talks. RTYC-MN sets out to accomplish the mission explicitly stated in the objectives of its parent organization 'The Central Executive Tibetan Youth Congress' based in Dharamsala, India.

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Portland/Vancouver was formed in 1998 during the visit of former TYC Centrex President Tsetan Norbu and former Centrex member Pema Lhundup. During their stay, Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association hosted a potluck party at Portland State University attended by many in the local Tibetan community.
