The Tibet Society UK is the world’s first ever Tibet support group. It was founded in 1959, within weeks of the flight of the Dalai Lama from Tibet following the uprising against Chinese occupation. All the founders of the Tibet Society UK had personal knowledge of an independent and free Tibet, having either lived in Lhasa or had direct dealings with the Tibetan government. Established on 25 September 2007, Tibetan UN Advocacy is a NGO based in Geneva, Switzerland which is the headquarters of the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies, the UN Human Rights Council and the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Tibetan UN Advocacy aims to educate Tibetans about the many institutions of the United Nations, especially when it concerns them. The NGO would also aim to ensure effective participation by Tibetans at UN forums in order to create greater awareness of multilateral diplomacy. Phone: +41 77 452 9051.
