Official Website of Drikung Kagyu

This is official website of Drikung Kagyu Order. The order was founded in 1179 by Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön. It is headed by the two Kyabgon Rinpoches, His Holiness Drikung Chetsang and His Holiness Drikung Chungtsang. While Kyabgon Chungtsang Rinpoche resides in Lhasa, Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche has established the Drikung Kagyu seat in exile in the foothills of the Himalayas, outside Dehra Dun, in the northeast of India.

Palyung Center

Palyul Center is founded by Tai Situ Rinpoche. The present twelfth Kenting Tai Situpa, Pema Donyo Nyingche Wangpo, was born in the male wood-horse year (1954) in the Palyul District of Derge to a family of farmers. He was found and recognized by H.H the sixteenth Karmapa Rigpe Dorje.

Barom Kagyu Chodrak Drupju Chuling

The history of the lineage is central to understanding the importance of Venerable Sonam Tenzin Rinpoche’s endeavours to bring the Barom Kagyu lineage to the west. The Kagyu lineages are historically known as the practice lineages, in which oral instruction is of pre-eminent importance. This emphasis is reflected in the literal meaning of Kagyu.

Benchen Monastery Community
