We are an independent and diverse group of Tibetans comprising of youths, monks and elder Tibetans working to promote political awareness in Tibetan Society. KUNPHEN, literally means universal Benevolence. It is the first and only Tibetan non-government organization (NGO) that provides programs focusing on treatment and care for alcohol and drug abuse. Kalsang Dawa began his studies in traditional Tibetan art at the age of 14 in Lhasa, Tibet, where he first apprenticed by painting Tibetan designs in temples and houses. He then settled in Dharamsala where he joined the Thangka Painting School at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives. He studied under the guidance of Master thangka artist Ven. Sangye Yeshe. He is currently teaching Tibetan thangka painting at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada.
