This is official website of Drikung Kagyu Order. The order was founded in 1179 by Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön. It is headed by the two Kyabgon Rinpoches, His Holiness Drikung Chetsang and His Holiness Drikung Chungtsang. While Kyabgon Chungtsang Rinpoche resides in Lhasa, Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche has established the Drikung Kagyu seat in exile in the foothills of the Himalayas, outside Dehra Dun, in the northeast of India.

The Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre (TPPRC) is a joint project of the Friedrich-Naumann Foundation, a public funded German institution, committed to liberal democratic ideals and engaged in strengthening pluralist development, and the Assembly of Tibetan People's Deputies (ATPD), Tibet's Parliament in exile. Since its inception in 1991, it has been engaged in understanding and dissemination of information on various political aspects related to Tibet with a view to carry forward the global movement of the Tibetan people's struggle for freedom and democracy. Tashi Lhunpo Monastery is one of the four great monasteries of the Gelugpa School of Tibetan Buddhism. Founded in 1447 by Gyalwa Gendun Drup (1st Dalai Lama) and traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, the second most important spiritual leader of Tibet.

In keeping with the University of Virginia’s commitment to fostering a liberal arts education that is both globally aware and interdisciplinary in nature, the Tibet Center was founded to bring together faculty, students, and staff at UVa with those at other universities and also other individuals and organizations, to promote a deeper understanding of Tibet’s histories, cultures, and peoples. While the Tibet Center serves as a hub for educational programs, research initiatives, and publication projects which advance the field of Tibetan Studies, it also aims to develop and support programs that will bring social benefit to Tibetan communities.
