Shambhala is a global community. There are more than 170 centres and groups around the world, as well as thousands of individual members. Shambhala Meditation Centres offer courses in meditation and other contemplative arts and disciplines, and also host community gatherings, celebrations, and family events.

The mission of the Tibetan Buddhist Resource Center, Inc. is to promote research and scholarship in Tibetan Buddhism and advance the preservation of the Tibetan cultural heritage by making its literary tradition widely available in the form of digital images. With the exodus of Tibetans from their homeland, their ancient wisdom was dispersed into the world. The precious texts and the oral traditions they brought with them gave new impetus to Tibetan and Buddhist studies in the West. This unique tradition is particularly rich as it includes not only the Tibetans' original contributions but also the traditional works of the great Indian scholars and masters, which were systematically documented and preserved in Tibet.

The Italian Buddhist Union consists of 45 centers and foundations, which share the statutory purposes of the location. These centers then, as a main advocate the practice, preservation and appropriate dissemination of the Teachings of spiritual historical Buddha (Shakyamuni Buddha).

THL promotes the integration of knowledge and community across the divides of academic disciplines, the historical and the contemporary, the religious and the secular, the global and the local. In addition to more typical academic projects, THL promotes participatory knowledge that is created by and benefits local communities, while including contributors from all walks of life around the world.
